virtual pbx  (India)

I have explored about hosted PBX a lot and I am wondered about the security and reliability. No doubt hosted pbx is in boom and most of the small businesses are moving towards hosted IP PBX. The main factors which attracted me is the advanced features and cost effective which will help in focusing the business without any hassle and worried about hard wired maintenance as virtual PBX system waves all these disadvantages and steps towards the new technology of hosted PBX systems.

Re: virtual pbx  (Norway)

I am not sure how others are taking care of sceurity, but here is our approach.

1) One virtual Swyxserver for each customer.
2) Connection from customer to datacenter using site-to-site encrypted VPN. The customer is only able to communicate with its own PBX, no other customer can reach that IP Address.
3) Closed network between PBX and SIP Provide. Internet is not used for SIP trunking.

Security in virtual PBX systems has been called in question recently.  There is a little evidence that security in Virtual PBX system is any less then Public telephony. Security issues over Virtual PBX VOIP like :-

  • SPIT (Spam over internet telephony),
  • Eaves dropping,
  • SIP(session initiation protocol) registration hacking,
  • Spoofing or man in middle attack

These threats can be easily tackled with the help of vigilant network staff and common sense approaches like closing down unused ports and services ,utilizing firewalls and diligent intrusion detection  .’The Real PBX’ ensures that these security threats will be well taken care off by their certified technicians who are highly updated with the security issues. Virtual PBX systems are still the most cost effective way for maximizing organizational efficiencies and top notch customer care.
